What components and rates make up a BPJS contribution?

BPJS Kesehatan (health) is 5% of salary, plus four BPJS Ketenagakerjaan programs: JHT (old-age) 5.7%, JP (pension) 3%, JKK (work accident) 0.24%–1.74% by risk level, and JKM (death) 0.3%. Each percentage is applied to the relevant wage base, not always the full salary.

How is the cost split between employer and employee?

For Kesehatan the employer pays 4% and the employee 1%; for JHT it is 3.7% employer / 2% employee; for JP it is 2% employer / 1% employee. JKK and JKM are fully paid by the employer. So the employer always carries the larger share.

Is there a salary ceiling on BPJS contributions?

Partly. BPJS Kesehatan caps the wage base at Rp 12,000,000, and JP is capped at Rp 10,547,400/month (2025, adjusted periodically). JHT has no ceiling — its 5.7% is applied to the full salary. JKK and JKM also use the full salary. So only Kesehatan and JP stop increasing above their caps; JHT keeps scaling with pay.
